Prestonzly design, highly unusual hand-tooled shoes

Recently my sister in law from Australia came to visit us. We often banter back and forth about shoes and she promised me that this time she would be bringing some killer shoes.

Yikes and so she did! She is a petite thing and this elevated her to almost my height! This promted me to check out some Australian independent shoe makers and did I come across some delightful avant guarde shoes! The team of designer/shoemaker Johanna Preston and sculptor Petr Zly have truly made some remarkable creations.

Joanna was spending much of her money on ill fitting shoes, so her partner Petr eventually suggested that she start making her own.

The pair entered into the tutelage of (the late) Master Shoemaker George Koleff of Bulgaria. Having been instructed in the traditions of handmade bespoke shoemaking the pair set about experimenting with ways to apply these techniques to the creation of breathtaking contemporary designs.

Painstakingly handmade from leather, wood and the best quality synthetic materials where appropriate, these exciting modern classics are not made to fads, but will stand the test of time - stylistically and materially.
Preston Zly is now considered one of Australia’s most remarkable producers of high-fashion, high-quality and highly unusual hand-tooled shoes. They make over 700 pairs of shoes per year, and supply around ten outlets in Australia and overseas. Small productions ensure that their niche market is always hungry for more!
