My Favourite Shoes

This week I want to introduce you to two sisters who originally hailed from California but who now ply their trade in New York.

Satu and Celeste Greenberg have been inspired by vintage jewelry since they were in high school. They would frequent the many local vintage stores and rework the jewelry into modern and versatile pieces. When the sisters eventually moved to New York city and started working for some of the world’s premiere fashion magazines, and word began to spread of their impressive vintage collection and designers, creative directors and editors began approaching them about using their archive as a source for their own design inspiration.

First footwear collection

However, their vision did not end with jewelry as you may well have expected. This spring the duo launched their first footwear collection. These shoes although edgy, are full of feminine details and certainly have elements of the jewelry Satu and Celeste are famous for. "It was important for us to borrow design details from our jewelry collection, with special elements such as mini rosette zipper pulls, metal plating and, of course, a unique Lucite heel with pearls and gunmetal balls from our signature necklaces. The fit is of the utmost importance, and we designed this collection for the woman who wears her shoes to work, running errands and straight through the night."

This is a very beautiful collection and I am hoping that a handbag collection will soon follow.

Helena Siebert uit Vancouver, Canada, is een myfavouriteshoes fan van het eerste uur. Niet alleen is zij een fan van John Fluevog schoenen, zij houdt van alle schoenen met een twist. Het leek haar leuk om schrijvend haar passie voor schoenen met ons te delen. Het kan haar lekker niks schelen dat haar man , zoals de meeste mannen, ook niet zo van wedges houdt. Ze koopt en draagt ze met plezier. Haar Nederlands is een beetje te roestig, dus schrijft zij in het Engels.
